This handbag is named after the Italian actress Sophia Loren. She is one of the most famous screen divas of her era.
Sophia's most famous film is probably the dramatic Two Women, for which she won the Oscar for best actress. She has acted in about a hundred films, the most recent of which are still in the 2020s. In 1981, she became the first female celebrity to launch her own 'Sophia' perfume, soon followed by an eyewear brand. Sophia, now nearly 90 years old, is also a businesswoman.
The Sophia bag lives up to the 1950s, when Loren was at her most productive years, acting up to ten films a year. The upwardly tapering shape, the rounded carrying handles and the buckle decorating the front are strongly reminiscent of that era. This beautiful handbag is made of pebbled grain leather.
