LOVE FOR COLOR
Utua founder Piia Vähäsalo's love for bold, cheerful colors and authentic materials is evident in her product range. Self-expression and empowerment through color have played an important role in her own life, so Utua's colorful collection was born from a desire to offer the same opportunity to others.
The values that she found important in her own personal life have also become Utua's values and operations are guided by them. The choices made in Utua's early stages, for example regarding manufacturing locations and materials, are still valid today, even though the product range has expanded over the years.

All products are manufactured within the EU
All our products are made from high-quality materials by experienced professionals. These hands have decades of experience in manufacturing even the most demanding leather products. By operating within the EU, we want to ensure decent production conditions and that the people who make our products receive appropriate compensation for their work. Our partners are committed to complying with European labor laws.
The leather used in the bags is processed in Italy and the sewing work takes place in a family-owned atelier in Greece.

Our products are brought to life in our design studio located in the idyllic Wanhaa Raahe. Our roots are deep in the Northern Ostrobothnian landscape and soul, and this is reflected in both our values and our everyday work.
It's easy to visit us, as you can drive right up to the door! Our store is open all year round. Welcome!

Where did it all start?
As the morning dawns and the evening cools, a beautiful mist floats over the vast expanses of Ostrobothnia. Admiring this sight, Utu, a Finnish bag and clothing brand inspired by Finnish nature and the soulful landscape, was born in 2014. In keeping with our roots, our design is based on Ostrobothnian clarity and practicality. We want to make timeless and unique products that look like their wearer, that work in both everyday life and at parties, in every situation throughout life. It is important to us that our products last over time and are loved by the user.
We design details in each product that make it unique and personal. The purpose of our products is to complement the personality of the wearer. That's why we love the moments when we see that our product has found its rightful owner! Responsibility is at the heart of everything we do. We want to do our part in creating a more sustainable world, where both people and the environment are well. Every Utua product is designed in Raahe and manufactured from responsible materials in the EU.
